A Dundee-based MSP says the Post Office has refused to rule out closing the post office in Dundee city centre if no one wants to take over the business.
The Meadowside branch is one of five Scottish Crown Post Offices the company wants to franchise.
Dundee-based MSP Jenny Marra met Post Office representatives on Wednesday.
She said: “I was looking for assurances that if they fail to find a franchisee they will not close the post office and that there will not be any reduction in services. They were unable to give me these assurances.
“I am going to launch a petition and hope citizens of Dundee get behind the campaign to save the post office.”
