A stretch of the busy Arbroath Road in Dundee has re-opened after a three-vehicle crash on Monday morning.

A lorry and two cars collided near the Scott Fyffe Roundabout just after 9am.

The eastbound section of the road had to be closed as police and ambulance attended the scene.

No injuries, one arrest

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving three vehicles at Scott Fyffe roundabout, Arbroath Road, Dundee, around 9.15am on Monday, 18 July.

“There were no reports of any injuries and recovery was arranged.

“One driver was arrested but released without charge.”

Drivers were advised to avoid the area.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We received reports at 9.14am of an RTC involving one HGV and two private vehicles at the Scott Fyffe roundabout.

Police and ambulance services attended the scene of the collision.

“Two appliances were sent to the scene however they were called back at 9.35am.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a request from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to attend an incident on Kingsway East Road.

“We dispatched one ambulance and the special operations response team to attend to five casualties at the scene.”

Crash blackspot

Andrew Millington, who has lived near the roundabout for seven years, said: “There was a black car coming down from Claypotts and a red car coming up from the roundabout.

“They made contact just after the roundabout and the front wheels hit, which spun out the black car.

“This was about 9.21am.

“There are a lot of crashes up at that roundabout. Not so many along here but on the roundabout definitely.”
