A new image has revealed how an extension to Harris Academy in Dundee will look if plans for the project are approved.
Dundee City Council has lodged proposals to add to the building, which only opened in 2016.
The extension would provide six extra classrooms, a staff base and a deputy headteacher’s office – boosting the school’s capacity by nearly 200 pupils.
It would consist of a single storey and would be built to the rear of the school on an area of playground.
It comes after councillors in Dundee approved proposals that will see Perth and Kinross Council pay £4.2 million towards the school’s expansion.
That will allow pupils coming from Invergowrie Primary to continue to attend Harris, rather than going to Perth High School – a near-30-minute journey by road or 55 minutes by bus.
Council planning officers behind the Harris Academy expansion say the “modern design solution” and material choices presented in the planning application complement those of the existing building.
The planning application will be determined in the coming months.
Earlier this year, pictures were revealed showing how a new school replacing Braeview Academy and Craigie High in the east end of Dundee will look.
