A Dundee shopkeeper was grabbed by the throat and threatened with a screwdriver by a thief on Saturday afternoon.
Hassan Majid, 34, was sitting behind the till of Kenny’s News Centre at 89 Strathmartine Road around 3.40pm when the incident occurred.
The man, who was carrying a screwdriver, grabbed Mr Majid by the throat and threw him to the ground.
Mr Majid blacked out and the raider made his getaway.
“I didn’t sleep at all last night,” he said.
“But customers were coming for their newspapers so I had to open on Sunday morning.”
The incident was the second raid on a newsagents in the Coldside and Hilltown areas of Dundee in just over 24 hours.
On Friday afternoon, two opportunistic thieves raided Masterton’s Newsagent on the junction of Arklay Street and Clepington Road while the Muslim shopkeepers were at afternoon prayers.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police Scotland are appealing for information following a robbery at 89 Strathmartine Road about 3.45pm, Saturday January 21.
“The male responsible is described as white, male, around 40 years of age, 5ft 8 tall with short dark shaved hair.
“No persons were injured as a result of this crime.
“Anyone who may have seen the described male in the area around the time of the incident or has any information regarding the crime is is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
