A young boy has been taken to hospital after being involved in a collision with a car in Dundee.
Police were called to St Fillans Road in St Mary’s just before 8pm on Thursday.
Locals saw police near the junction with St Fillans Terrace, close to a park area popular with children.
Officers remained in the area for more than four hours as they launched an investigation.
Traffic police and dog unit at scene
One onlooker saw a police dog unit at the scene.
He told The Courier: “I came into the street just after 8pm and saw the traffic police and a dog unit in the street.
“I was told a child had been hit by a car.
“There were loads of people in the street and police were taking statements from a load of people near a small park area.
“It isn’t surprising to hear what has happened as there have been a few close calls in the past.
“I hope the youngster is OK.”
Another man said children often play in the area.
Boy taken to Ninewells Hospital
He said: “There is a wee kids’ play area within a grassy bit between St Fillans Terrace and St Fillans Road.
“The kids are crossing over all the time from one bit to another – especially throughout the summer holidays.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of an incident on St Fillans Road, Dundee around 7.50pm on Thursday.
“A child was injured and taken by his parents to Ninewells Hospital.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
