A Dundee takeaway boss has described the moment a “big-nosed” intruder broke into his business.
CCTV footage shows the man forcing his way into Marini’s on Strathmartine Road at the weekend.
Manager Bulent Gok says hundreds of pounds’ worth of damage was caused when the man used tools – including a hoover attachment – to force entry using the back door.
Two other businesses in the area were also targeted overnight from Saturday into Sunday.
Bulent, 44, told The Courier it is the third time the takeaway has been broken into this year.
He said: “The first twice we’ve been targeted this year it was via the front door, this time the person came through the back.
“There is a communal path that all the stores can use to enter and exit.
“Watching the CCTV back, the guy burst open the lock of the exit door to our shop with what looks like a metal pipe.
“He appeared to eventually get it open using a hoover attachment.”
Bulent believes more than £2,000 worth of damage has been caused, though nothing was stolen.
He said: “When the guy crawled into the shop he opened the fridges and, in his haste, he even turned on the pizza ovens.
“He eventually came over to the till near one of the cameras. That’s when I noticed he had a big nose.
Intruder ‘jumped up and down on till’
“The man was wearing a Superdry hoodie and sunglasses, it looks like.
“He tried to jump up and down on the till but he couldn’t get access.
“The till could be around £1,500 to repair and the exit door he damaged could be anything up to £700.
“To say I’m hacked-off this has happened to us again is an understatement.”
It is not clear which other businesses were affected.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Officers received reports of break-ins to three premises on Strathmartine Road in Dundee.
“The incident occurred overnight between Saturday and Sunday.
“Inquiries into the incidents are ongoing.”
