Hundreds of homes across Dundee were left without electricity following power cuts. Scottish and Southern Energy said homes in two postcode areas in Barnhill, around Crail Place, lost power around 2.30pm on Tuesday. A second fault knocked out power in the DD1 DD2 postcode areas shortly after 5pm. It affected a significant number of properties in the West End of Dundee. As well as homes, traffic lights were also down because of the outage. Police said they had not received any reports of accidents or other issues caused by the blackout,. A statement on the company’s website said: “We apologise for the loss of supply. “We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed. Our engineers are on site working to get the power back on as quickly as they can.” SSE also Tweeted: We're sorry about the #PowerCut affecting #Dundee this evening. Engineers are en route and aim to restore the majority of supplies by 19:30. — ssencommunity (@ssencommunity) January 31, 2017 Power was fully restored by 9pm.
