A man was escorted out of his home by police last night after crowds protested in a Dundee street in an attempt to oust a paedophile.
More than 100 people were in St Mungo Terrace on Saturday to protest against Andrew Galbraith living in the area.
The protesters first appeared on the residential street late in the afternoon, chanting and shouting for the 26-year-old to be removed from his home.
Police escorted man out of property during paedophile protest
Police were called to the scene at 4.45pm and a man was escorted out of the property at 7pm.
Video from the scene shows at least 20 police officers attempting to maintain order as the angry crowd watch the man leave his home and enter the vehicle.
Onlookers screamed “get the beast out” and “no peace for the beast” as the resident was escorted into the back of a police van.
In July Galbraith pled guilty to inducing what he thought was a 13-year-old child to look at a sexual image and conversation, in order to gain sexual gratification or humiliation, between November 8 2020 and June 13 2021.
He also pled guilty to two additional charges of possessing and distributing child pornography.
On August 19 he appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court again for sentencing.
He was placed on the sex offenders register for three years and ordered to complete a rehabilitation programme.
He was also placed under supervision for the same period of time.
‘A male was removed from the area’
Police have confirmed that nobody was injured or arrested during the protest.

“Following police attendance, a male was removed from the area by police officers, there were no persons hurt during the incident and officers remain in the area to reassure the local community.”
