More than 60 bus services have been cancelled by Xplore Dundee on Tuesday.
Staff being “unavailable” means some buses on routes across the city are unable to run.
The services affected on May 2 are:
- 5 – Ninewells Hospital to Barnhill
- 5A – Ninewells Hospital to Barnhill
- 10 – Ninewells Hospital to Broughty Ferry
- 17 – Ninewells Hospital to Whitfield
- 18 – City centre to Claverhouse
- 22 – Ninewells Hospital to Craigowl
- 28 – Myrekirk to Douglas
- 32 – City centre to Fintry
Xplore statement on cancellations
A statement on the Xplore Dundee website about the cancellations said: “We’re sorry for any disruption caused to your journey as a result of staff being unavailable.
“This is part of an ongoing national issue which is being compounded by sickness absences. We’re doing our best to work around these things.
“Please allow extra time for travelling (as any buses being missed may have a knock-on effect to other buses in service).”
The latest issues come as Xplore Dundee staff are being balloted on strike action in a dispute over pay.
Xplore Dundee faced prolonged problems with staff shortages throughout 2022, but appeared to have largely addressed the issues by October.
The firm said it had changed its recruitment strategy and was “cautiously optimistic” about the situation.
However, there have been dozens of cancellations on certain days this year as the firm faces fresh challenges.
