A new 99p bus service from Dundee to Glasgow and Aberdeen has been launched.
Earlier this month, Flixbus launched the cheap service between Glasgow, Stirling and Aberdeen – with buses stopping at Broxden Park and Ride.
Dundee missed out initially but has now been added as a stop after the infrastructure required was put in place.
Long distance route
The Flixbus service has been started by McGills, the owner of Xplore.
It is running four times a day between Glasgow and Aberdeen, stopping along the way at Stirling, Perth and now also Dundee.
The new service offers fare for as little as 99p until September 12, rising to £3.99.
Eight Dundee stops a day
The Dundee stop will be at the Overgate Centre at the Marketgate.
Buses will stop there a total of eight times a day on outward and inward journeys – Aberdeen bound at 5.05am, 9.05am,1.30pm and 6pm and Glasgow bound at 8.35am, 1pm, 5.30pm and 9.55pm.
Andreas Schorling, managing director of FlixBus UK said: “We’re delighted to add Dundee to our ever-growing Scottish network and expand our routes to serve more customers and locations than ever before.
“Tickets start at 99p, providing the most affordable, reliable, and sustainable travel option for the city.”
Ralph Roberts, CEO of McGill’s, said: “Our established partnership with FlixBus has gone from strength to strength, and we are delighted to be working together with the global brand to deliver this ambitious project and offer high-quality transport connections to the people of Scotland.”
McGill’s already runs several cross-border FlixBus services, including to cities like Sheffield and Manchester, and recently launched a daily summer service between London, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
FlixBus began life as a tech start-up in Germany in 2013 and now serves more than 40 destinations in the UK.
