A man has been treated in hospital after a serious assault in Dundee.
Emergency services were called to Lilybank Terrace, just off Broughty Ferry Road, at around 6.50pm on Thursday.
The 35-year-old victim required treatment for his injuries at Ninewells Hospital following the assault and was later discharged.
One woman living nearby, who asked not to be identified, said: “I was just on my way to the shops at around 7pm and there were three police cars in the cul-de-sac and two further police vehicles on Lilybank Road.
“Police had to go through the veranda to get access to the address. I saw the police removing a piece of wood and placing it in an evidence bag.
“I wouldn’t say we were surprised by last night’s events as the police are always here.”
A man who lives in the area says there were a “couple of bangs” around the time of the attack.
He said: “There were six coppers at the back of the property on Thursday night, it’s a shared communal footpath as you come towards Broughty Ferry Road.
“Given the police remained here overnight we knew it must have been serious.”
Officers carried out door-to-door inquiries on Friday while a CCTV unit was also parked on the street.
Detective Sergeant Sean McCabe from Dundee CID said: “Our inquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to get in touch.
“We would be keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard any disturbance in the area, or who may have dashcam or private CCTV from the area.
“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 2978 of September 1, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
It comes as police are continuing to investigate a separate incident in Craigie, where a man was found injured in a block of flats.
