Police have issued a warning after two elderly women were targeted by “despicable” crooks.
Brazen thieves posing as tradesmen stole a three-figure sum from the homes of two pensioners in Dundee’s Kerrsview Terrace.
The robbers entered the properties at around 5pm on Friday February 5 before driving off in a Volkswagen Passat estate car.
Officers are keen to speak with three men in connection with the incident.
One is described as being well built with a reddish-brown thin beard, wearing a black quilted jacket, blue trousers and a black knitted hat.
Another is described as being around 25 to 30 years of age wearing a hooded top and dark tracksuit with white stripes. The third man is believed to be aged between 50 and 60 years old.
Police have now urged homeowners throughout Dundee to be on their guard.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “This is a despicable crime targeting elderly persons in their own home and we would urge anyone with any information that may be useful to contact Tayside Division on 101 quoting reference number CR/3037/17, or any police officer.
“Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 11.
“Be suspicious of anyone arriving unannounced at your door.
“Householders should ensure that doors are secure, even when at home, and use a door chain.
“Neighbours should look out for one another – particularly if they have elderly or vulnerable neighbours. Report any suspicious activity to the police.”
