Still Game fans meet the stars at Dundee bottle signing

Scores of Still Game fans queued to meet the stars of their favourite comedy in Dundee on Wednesday afternoon.

Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill are on a whistle-stop tour of the country, signing bottles of their Jack and Victor Blended Scotch Whisky and Still Gin.

The duo, who co-wrote the series, arrived at the Co-op in Barnhill to meet and greet members of the public.

They continue their tour in Auchterarder on Thursday afternoon.

The queue of people waiting to meet Jack and Victor snaked all the way along the street.

The queue of fans wait outside the Barnhill Co-op branch.

Front of the queue was Stacey McGuinness and her son Bobby, who is currently being treated for leukaemia.

He was discharged from hospital just hours before the arrival of his heroes.

Stacey said: “Bobby has leukaemia and is the show’s number one fan.

“He just got out of hospital this morning and I was hoping he would make it.

“He was diagnosed last May and we watched the boxset nearly every day – he knows every word.

“It’s probably what got him through it.”

Louise Adams dressed up as the Guinness-loving fan favourite Edith for the occasion.

She told The Courier what the show meant to her by saying: “The Scottishness, the banter, the drinks: Stoorie Midouri means everything!

Louise Adams arrived to the event dressed as Edith.

“It’s such a fantastic show that’s kept people amused for all these years.

“Everyone knows a Tam or an Isa.”

John Thomson took his grandson Alexander Johnstone to the event.

He said: “Alexander thinks it’s the best show on TV.

“He got to see the live show at the SECC in Glasgow and he thought it was brilliant.

“They’re his heroes.”

Linda Sheridan was one of those lucky enough to meet the pair.

People huv tae know!

Celebrating 20 years since the first episode was broadcast, the rest of the main cast will also be setting foot in Tayside to discuss the show in the coming months.

Gavin Mitchell, Paul Riley, Sanjeev Kohli, Jane McCarry and Mark Cox will appear at Dundee and Arbroath in November as part of the ‘People Huv Tae Know’ tour.

Our photographer Mhairi Edwards was on hand to capture fans getting the opportunity to meet their heroes. Unfortunately, there were no beefy bakes on sale.
