A Dundee care worker was forced to cancel home visits after her family car was stolen.
Sian Samson’s Dacia Duster was taken outside her property on Charleston Drive in Menzieshill overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sian, 31, carries out reviews at houses and care homes on behalf of Dundee City Council.
The mum-of-three was unable to attend her appointments on Wednesday after the 22-plate SUV was taken.
Care worker in ‘total disbelief’ at car theft
She said: “You never expect this to happen to you.
“My sister came into our house and asked my husband Dale where I was, as my car wasn’t outside.
“Dale went out to get a car seat for my sister and couldn’t see the car either.
“I contacted the police straight away. I’m in total disbelief that someone’s taken our family car.
“While I realise it’s just a piece of metal, it has had an impact on both my work and some of the activities my children Amelie, Arya and Arwen take part in.
“I had to cancel a few appointments yesterday.
“Part of the work I do is ensuring people’s homes are fit for purpose once they leave hospital.”
Sian says after putting an appeal on social media, other reports emerged about similar thefts in recent days.
Stolen car ‘spotted elsewhere in Dundee’
In an update, Sian confirmed her car had been traced.
She also claims the police told her that her vehicle had been seen elsewhere in Dundee.
Sian added: “The police said the car was spotted at around 11pm on Wednesday.
“It was on Forfar Road and later spotted in the Whitfield area that same evening.
“If we don’t get the vehicle back we will then need to go through the insurance to start the process of getting a new car.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Officers were called to reports of the theft of a car from a property on Charleston Drive, Dundee at around 8.55am on Wednesday/
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
