Lifeboat services were called to assist a woman after her catamaran capsized on the River Tay.
Broughty Ferry RNLI received a request from HM Coastguard at 4.55pm on Friday to respond to the incident, which occurred between Larrick Pile and Tayport Harbour.
After managing to right the vessel, an unsuccessful search was conducted for the other crew member and the coastguard was contacted.
At 5.05pm all available volunteers responded and with the assistance of a shore crew the inshore lifeboat ‘Oor lifesaver’ was launched.
Four minutes later the all weather lifeboat ‘Elizabeth of Glamis’ was launched.
Both lifeboats headed for the Fife coastline and began the search upriver on a flood tide towards the Tay Road Bridge.
Multiple reports sent to the coastguard
After the coastguard received multiple reports, a crew member aboard the all weather lifeboat spotted the missing person in middle of the river between the lighthouse on the Fife shore and the Tay Road Bridge.
Once on board the casualty was found to be uninjured but suffering from the effects of the cold.
She was rapidly transferred to the lifeboat station where she was treated and then handed over to a waiting ambulance crew for further assessment and transfer to Ninewells Hospital’s Emergency Department.
