Police are hunting thieves who stole two cars from a Dundee property – abandoning one of them on a housing estate.
Police were called to Tranent Walk in Whitfield on Wednesday morning after the discovery of a stolen Nissan.
It was taken, along with a Mazda, in the early hours of Wednesday from a property on Fairmuir Road.
The Mazda is yet to be found.
Spate of stolen vehicles being dumped
Those living on the Whitfield housing estate say there has been a spate of stolen vehicles being left in the area.
One man, who did not want to be identified, said: “I had the police round here this morning asking if I’d seen anything in connection with the vehicle.
“There were two police units here.
“I think traffic police stayed beside the car while other officers carried out some door-to-door inquiries.
“The vehicle was uplifted at around 10am.
“Police asked if I’d seen anything but there wasn’t much I could tell them.
“It has become a bit of dumping ground over the last few months.”
‘Shock’ at rate of car thefts
Another man living in the street said he had seen social media posts about one of the stolen cars.
He said: “It seems prolific in Dundee at the moment, the amount of vehicles being stolen.
“It’s shocking how frequently it seems to be happening.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “On Wednesday morning, police received a report of two vehicles being stolen from a property on Fairmuir Road, Dundee – a black Nissan Elgrand and a silver Mazda 3.
“The Nissan was recovered in the Tranent Walk area of Dundee, while the Mazda remains outstanding.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
