Murs will perform in Dundee on July 20.

Tickets to see Olly Murs perform at Dundee’s Slessor Gardens were snapped up by fans on Friday morning.

The multi-Brit award nominee will become the third act to appear at the outdoor concert venue, after Little Mix and UB40.

Murs will take to the stage on Thursday July 20 to an audience of thousands.

The 2006 X Factor runner up will bring 2015 show winner Louisa Johnson as his support act.

Tickets went on sale on Friday at 9am, with 97% selling out in the first two hours.

The singer, who also worked as a presenter on the ITV juggernaut where he found fame, last played in the city in 2011 in the Caird Hall and has gone on to have a string of number one hits including Troublemaker, Heart Skips and Beat and Dance With Me Tonight.

Tickets, which are all standing, are priced at £39.50 and £55.00.

Murs said: “I am thrilled to play outdoors at the Slessor Gardens in Dundee. I love performing in Scotland; the audiences are always so receptive and fun. It’s going to be an amazing gig.”

After Murs’ appearance on the X Factor, he has experienced huge success with four multi-platinum albums including four UK number one singles.

He is the X Factor’s most successful solo artist ever.

Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE, CEO of LHG Live, the promoter behind the show, said: “We are delighted to be working with Olly Murs on his UK Summer Tour. Olly is one of the best male solo artists in the UK and the perfect artist for our venues.

“We expect each show to have a great party atmosphere and look forward to hearing his most popular hits.”

The Little Mix concert, set for June 29, sold out within 15 minutes when tickets went on sale last month.

Within hours, second-hand tickets were being touted online for up to 450% of the original price, meaning some were being advertised for as much as £187.
