Locals queued in the rain to be first through the doors of the new Dundee Taco Bell restaurant on Thursday.
The US takeaway chain – which specialises in Mexican-inspired dishes – has become the latest food retailer to move into Reform Street.
The first 100 customers were offered a free crunchy wrap.
Lily Berwick, 19, was first in line to get into the restaurant.
The Dundee University student said: “I’ve had one before in Aberdeen and Glasgow so I’m really excited – I’m happy they’ve opened one in Dundee.
“I’ll probably be a regular customer – I probably shouldn’t eat too much of it, though!
“I know the first 100 customers get free food but I was willing to pay.”
Emily Baird and Amy Fernie, both 19, who live across the street from Taco Bell, say they went for the free tacos.
Emily said: “We’ve been excited for it to open.
“We’ve been walking past it every day, looking at the signs in the window, wondering when it’s actually opening.
“I think we’ll probably be regulars – it’s quite dangerous having it so close.”
Natalia Nowah, 22, was also one of the first in line to try the Mexican cuisine.
She said: “I’ve never tried Taco Bell so this is my first time.
“I wanted to go up to Aberdeen to try it but now it’s here so I don’t have to.
“I’m excited to try everything, I always like to try new things and I love Mexican food.”
The arrival of Taco Bell comes after Fridays and Go – a spin-off of TGI Fridays – opened its first outlet on Reform Street in March.
The street is also home to a McDonald’s and several coffee shops and cafes.
A number of other takeaway food outlets and new shops are planned in Dundee in the coming months.
