Part of Dundee’s City Square was closed off after a fire broke out around Henry’s Coffee House.
Firefighters were called to the square shortly after 8pm, with several appliances in attendance.
Police said there was no apparent risk to the public but and that the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
The area was cleared with diners in the neighbouring Gidi Grill understood to have been asked to leave the premises.
Fire services left the scene at around 11.30pm.
On Monday morning most of the square had been reopened to the public but the area around the café remains closed.
Henry’s posted on social media that its City Square outlet would be closed on Monday “due to an electrical fault”, while adding thanks to its customers for their understanding.
Dundee city council offices in the east wing of City Square, above Henry’s coffee house and Virgin Money, are also closed while investigations into the fire go underway.
