Armed officers swooped on a Dundee cul-de-sac as part of an ongoing investigation on Friday morning.
As many as five armed officers descended on Canning Place in the Hilltown on Friday morning.
They focused their efforts on a flat and car when they arrived at around 8am.
Police Scotland said there was “no threat to the wider public”.
No arrests were made following the incident as a spokeswoman confirmed the investigation remains ongoing.
Neighbours described the events unfolding as “scary” as officers carried firearms though the street.
Canning Place raid was ‘talk of the street’
One woman who lives in the street said: “It looked like the police were carrying machine guns, it was quite scary.
“There were three police vehicles and an unmarked car but there were at least five armed officers.
“It has been the talk of the street.
“Another neighbour said they heard some banging but we don’t know much more than that.
“There was still one police van in the street just before 10am.”
One man taking children to school said armed police were on Strathmartine Road, at the rear of the Canning Place flats.
He said: “There was an armed copper.
“As I was coming back from the school run the police were searching a white jeep, there was three officers around it.
“They had search gloves on.
“I was little taken a back when I saw the armed copper.”
A police spokesman said: “Officers attended at a property on Canning Place, Dundee, as part of an ongoing investigation.
“There was no threat to the wider public and inquiries remain ongoing.”
