The boss of a Dundee events firm has vowed to “carry on” despite losing stock and equipment during a break-in.
Designer Events, based at Saltire Business Park on New Craigie Road, was targeted last weekend.
The firm helps run hen parties and other events, which it aims to ensure still go ahead in the coming weeks.
Owner Jonny Calder says staff were left “gutted” after finding the premises had been ransacked on Monday morning.
Jonny, 40, said: “Stock and equipment has been stolen.
“This business has grown so much but we’re still a small business, so when something like this happens it’s going to have an impact.
“We posted on social media just to advise our customers what happened.
‘I’ve used my own money to ensure there’s no disruption’
“Folk were asking if we were going to be cancelling events as a result.
“There was no way we were cancelling any events.
“I’ve used my own money to ensure there is no further disruption to the business.”
Jonny – who is originally from Newbigging but now lives in Cupar – believes the thieves may have made their way into his business by accident.
He added: “We’ve spoken with staff in Screwfix and they entered their premises as well but nothing was taken.
“It’s like they’ve tried to gain access to enter another area of Screwfix and ended up here.
“The stuff they’ve taken is useless for them – I can’t see any monetary value they could gain from it.
“That’s why I believe they’ve stumbled in here in error.
Police inquiries ongoing
“The one comfort that has come out of this is the support we’ve received from our customers and friends.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received report of a theft by housebreaking and attempted housebreaking at an industrial estate on New Craigie Road in Dundee around 8am on Monday.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
Screwfix confirmed its store was targeted during the incident.
