Two men were involved in an altercation at a Broughty Ferry primary school on Friday afternoon over a driving ban in the area.
The pair – believed to be parents – clashed outside Forthill Primary at around 3pm.
The incident happened when one of them drove through Fintry Place, where a ban is in place.
Another parent, who asked to remain anonymous, had to step in between the pair.
Parent slams ‘unacceptable’ actions at Forthill Primary
She said: “There was a man standing in the middle of Fintry Place stopping a car from passing through.
“They were driving from the school towards Forthill Road.
“The parent leaned on the bonnet of the car as to ensure he couldn’t move.
“He was shouting and swearing that the car shouldn’t be where it was at the time.
“What really sparked things off was the parent quite forcefully slamming his kids’ bags on the bonnet.
“The driver got out and pushed the bags off. This led to the parent throwing a punch at the driver.
“It didn’t fully connect but it was ridiculous to see.
“Most people just stood and watched it unfold until that moment, then people came in to separate them.
“It looked like a grandparent, in their early 60s, driving the car with their grandchild in the back.
“I know people should not be travelling down the road but to use violence and foul language outside a school with children around is not acceptable at all.”
Last year parents were urged not to ignore the ban around the Broughty Ferry school following a number of “near misses” between pedestrians and vehicles.
Notorious driving and parking issues have plagued Forthill Primary School over the years, leading to fears an accident will occur if drivers do not follow the rules.
Parents ‘appalled’ by behaviour
The incident was also shared on local Facebook page, Our Broughty Ferry.
A post read: “I witnessed a very aggressive altercation at Forthill school today at the crossing between the park and school.
“A car was driving down the road from the sports club when a parent from the school stopped the car in the middle of the road and proceeded to shout and swear at the driver.
“This escalated in the driver getting out the car to try and get the man to move away from his car which resulted in the parent throwing a punch in front of all the school children not to mention the driver of the cars grandchild who was in the back.
“I was appalled this happened in front of my two children and the language being used.
“I would love this post to remind people of no driving outside the school, but also for people who are approaching these people to be calm and not swear.
“This is around the third heated altercation I’ve witnessed at the school, it’s getting out of hand.”
Police Scotland are not aware of the incident.
