A car has been completely destroyed and other vehicles damaged in a wilful fire-raising incident in Dundee on Saturday.
The fires were deliberately started in Fintry Road, just behind the Dolphin Bar and Fintry Post Office.
Police Scotland are now appealing for the public’s help to try to trace whoever was responsible.
Dashcam footage sought
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We are currently investigating an incident of wilful fire-raising in Fintry Road Dundee, which happened between 8.30pm–9pm on Saturday.
“A BMW which was parked in the area behind the Dolphin Bar and Fintry Post Office was deliberately set on fire, destroying the car and damaging others parked nearby.
“A large number of people were in the vicinity around that time, and we would like to hear from anyone who saw persons running away from the location, or may have dashcam or mobile footage that could assist our investigation.”
“If you have any information that could assist us, please call 101 or speak to any police officer.
“Also, information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is incident 3955 of November 5.”
Local concerns
The manager at the Dolphin Bar, Lisa Low, said she was concerned to hear about the fireraising incident.
Lisa said: “That car has sat there for weeks now.
“It appears to have been abandoned and it has been getting vandalised. Its windows were already smashed.
“Now some firebugs have set it on fire and totally destroyed it and damaged other vehicles at the same time.
“It should have been moved ages ago to stop something like this happening, especially given other deliberate fire incidents that have been happening in the area recently.
Lisa added that there was no damage either the pub or the post office.
