A woman has been rescued from the River Tay in Dundee after a large emergency response.
Horrified onlookers watched as crews raced to the scene just opposite Dundee Railway Station.
She has been taken to Ninewells Hospital but her condition is currently unknown.
Woman was removed from the water
Police and ambulance crews as well as Broughty Ferry lifeboat crews were involved in the rescue, which took place around 9.30am on Thursday.
The woman was removed from the water and transferred to a waiting ambulance.
A spokesman for HM Coastguard said: “Broughty Ferry lifeboat was called out following reports that a woman was in the water along Riverside Drive.
“The woman was removed from the water.”
Emergency response
An eyewitness said: “There were lots of police and other emergency services at the scene.
“I saw it from across the road near to the railway station.
“I could see two police officers looking into the Tay then more police arrived along with two ambulances.
“I then saw police with a female. It looked like she was getting put into the back of one of the ambulances.
“It was really distressing to watch. I really hope the woman is OK.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “This was a concern for person call.
“Police were made aware of a person in the water around 9.10am this morning.
“The person was taken to Ninewells Hospital for assessment.”
