Hundreds of cyclists have taken part in a major racing event at Camperdown Country Park.
Returning to Dundee for the second year running on Sunday, the Scottish National Cyclo-Cross Championships saw more than 430 riders compete across 18 different categories.
The event, which was open to cyclists of all ages and abilities, was hailed a success by organisers.
Edinburgh University student Anna McGorum took gold in the senior women’s event, before prolific mountain biker Gary MacDonald claimed the senior men’s title.
A series of races were held throughout the day – catering to children under the age of 10 as well as men and women over the age of 60.
The event is part of the Scottish Cyclocross Series – an annual collection of races held across Scotland organised by the Scottish Cyclocross Association.
‘Close battles’ at Camperdown cycling event
Co-organiser Keith Stocker said: “Camperdown Country Park has once again proven to be a brilliant venue for the Scottish National Cyclo-Cross Championships and we really appreciate the city council’s support in enabling us to host the event here.
“The racing has been superb, with some close battles throughout the day, and I’m really happy that the course we designed has enabled such great competition.
“The atmosphere has been brilliant, with lots of spectators cheering the racers on. Having the music and commentary creates a real party feel to the event.
“We’ve also had great feedback from everyone about the prizes we’ve been giving out today, in particular those from some of our local sponsors.”
He added: “It has been brilliant to be able to present copies of the Oor Wullie annual courtesy of DC Thomson, and Mackays’ marmalade out to our podium placed riders.
“Local bike shop Spokes Cycles also sponsored the prizes for the youth races.
“Putting on the event is a big task but it’s so worth all the hard work.
“The team of volunteers have been amazing, many of who have been helping us with preparation for weeks now. We can’t thank them enough.”
The Scottish Cyclocross Series takes place annually between September and December.
Previous winners including UCI World Cup rider Cameron Mason and Team Scotland’s Isla Short and Charlie Aldridge.
