Dundee’s Caird Park golf course has suffered “significant damage” as a result of selfish motorcyclists, police have said.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the course’s turf was damaged overnight on Tuesday.

Officers say the track marks were likely caused by “motorcycle tyres or similar vehicle tyres”.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “In particular, tyre tracks were found from the woods near to Old Glamis Road into Caird Park Golf Course, towards the second green on the nine hole course, onto the 16th green and 17th tee on the 18 hole course and back towards the woods.

“The turf has been ripped up, causing significant damage to the course.

“Anyone who has information that could assist officers with their enquiries, or was in the area and saw any vehicles of this nature on the course, should contact Police Scotland on 101.

“Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.”

A spokesperson for Dundee Leisure and Culture said: ”

A Leisure & Culture spokesperson said “It is very frustrating that the course has been harmed in this way.

“The damage will take a lot of time and effort to repair.

“We would urge anyone who may be able help with information to get in touch directly with Police Scotland.”
