Hotel chain Travelodge has revealed the weirdest requests it has received from demanding guests in Dundee this year.
With the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, the chain has seen a flurry of guests over the last 12 months, each of them with their own specific requirements.
And while staff say they are always happy to make each stay memorable, some of the requests are clearly beyond even the most committed hotelier’s powers.
This included the plea from the mother of a bride staying at the Dundee Central Travelodge.
Fearful that the weather may take a turn for her daughter’s wedding, the woman wanted the hotel team to ensure that sunny Dundee stayed sunny.
And another guest looking to make her husband’s stay memorable asked staff if they might be able to “organise a kickabout” with the Dundee United team.
The teams were also asked a number of strange questions.
Clearly keen not to feature in The Courier’s court reports, one traveller staying at the Travelodge on Strathmore Avenue – perhaps getting confused about the presence of the famous 572ft hill – asked: “What is illegal according to Dundee Law?”
Elsewhere, one keen golfer staying in Aberdeen asked staff for help to find the “19th hole” on the Old Course at St Andrews.
And in Perth, staff were asked to organise for a pair of llamas to carry a couple’s wedding rings down the aisle.
Shakila Ahmed, Travelodge spokeswoman, said: “Where possible, our hotel teams will go above and beyond to help customers as they relish a good challenge.
“However, there are some requests beyond their control such as getting ordained to officiate a wedding at Stirling Castle, catching a cullen skink, organising for a family to feed the wild haggis and arranging a visit from the Loch Ness Monster.”
