Dundonians are being invited to meet new people and enjoy activities in a “warm and welcoming environment” this winter as a new community initiative is launched.
More than £43,000 has been allocated from a community regeneration fund to support the Open Doors programme in Dundee.
The programme has been launched by Dundee City Council and will see organisations from across the city come together to put on activities for the public to enjoy.
Activities on offer range from board games, jigsaws, craft groups and sports sessions to a cup of tea or sit-down meal. All of these will be free or low-cost.
Dundee a city ‘where everyone has somewhere to go’
Council leader John Alexander, who also acts as the Dundee Partnership chairman and co-chair of the Dundee Fairness Leadership Panel, praised the Open Doors initiative.
He said: “I’m really proud of how organisations across the city have come together to create this programme of winter activity.
“Of course, there are always groups meeting and activities happening in our communities, but this year we wanted to have a real focus on ensuring people have plenty of things to do and places to go.
“Dundee should be a city where everyone has somewhere to go to be welcomed, to be able to meet other people and take part in activities.”
