More than 200 pieces of art are being put up for sale in Dundee to raise funds for vital research into cancer.
The Business Beats Cancer art exhibition is taking place in the Vision Building in the city’s Greenmarket area this weekend.
A VIP night is being held on Thursday with the full sale then taking place from Friday to Sunday.
It comes just a few months after the city’s business community came together to raise almost £50,000 at the Apex City Quay Hotel in another Business Beats Cancer Dundee event.
Fundraising for research into cruel disease
All money raised will go to Cancer Research UK’s programs in Dundee.
Graham Huband, Business Beats Cancer Dundee board member and DC Thomson managing editor for Dundee, said: “Everyone will be touched by cancer in their lifetime, whether personally or through family and friends who have been visited by this terrible and cruel disease.
“Business Beats Cancer Dundee was set up in order to raise funds to advance cancer research locally, with money raised being targeted towards research programs in Dundee which are already doing a huge amount to advance knowledge and treatment of the disease.
“The art exhibition and sale at the Vision building in Greenmarket is our second event following a hugely successful fundraising dinner in September which contributed tens of thousands to the pot.
“We hope the public will take the time to come and see and buy some of the incredible artwork on show and, in doing so, support an incredibly good cause.”
Great collaboration by local community
A total of 75 artists have supplied art for the event while anyone is welcome to come along and browse the work on show.
Fellow board member David Smith, managing partner at MHA Henderson Loggie, said: “It will be a great thing for the community to come and see.
“It will also be a great showcase for national and local artists in Scotland.
“All funding raised will be ringfenced for research at Ninewells Hospital so it’s such an important cause.
“A huge thank you goes to all those involved in helping make this event happen; it has been a great collaboration between many people in the local community.”
