Viewers have been given their first glimpse of Dundee actor Brian Cox’s highly-anticipated portrayal of Winston Churchill.
The first official trailer for Churchill, which explores the 24 hours leading up to the D-Day landings in 1944, was released on Tuesday.
The trailer describes Churchill as “the greatest Briton” and explores the former Dundee MP’s fears that the Normandy landings ended as disastrously as the Gallipoli campaign in the First World War.
Cox, who starred in a number of blockbusters, has said he wanted to avoid “caricaturing” the two-time Prime Minister for the film.
The film also stars Miranda Richardson as Clementine Churchill, Mad Men’s John Slattery as President Eisenhower and James Purefoy as King George VI.
