Revellers have enjoyed the first weekend of Dundee Winterfest after its opening was delayed.

Organisers had to postpone plans to open the Christmas market on Friday afternoon because of problems in getting some equipment for its ice rink.

Parts for the rink had been held up at customs in Belgium.

However, Winterfest opened on Saturday morning with people turning out over the weekend to enjoy the second staging of the event – which also features a big wheel, rides and a bar.

‘The market has had a real buzz’

Montana Thomson, of organiser M&N Events, said: “We could have opened without it, but the ice rink is one of the main parts of Winterfest.

“It’s now in place and we were able to open up on Saturday.

“Attendance has been great so far and the market has had a real buzz about it.”
