Fresh calls are being made for action to tackle flooding in a Dundee underpass after years of problems.
The pedestrian tunnel at the A90 Forfar road, which connects Caird Park to Morrisons supermarket, has been flooded regularly since at least 2015.
It is often unusable for weeks at time, with residents having to use the traffic lights further down the road instead.
The underpass has been flooded since heavy rain in the city last month.
Councillor Dorothy McHugh, who represents the East End ward – which includes the underpass – says she is “shocked” to see the extent of the flooding.
She said: “Pedestrian access to and from the bus stop is vital for those folk without cars – especially older and disabled people.
“It is disappointing to hear that this has been an ongoing issue for a number of years.
“Clearly some significant work needs to be done to tackle this persistent flooding.”
Fellow East End councillor Will Dawson said: “Due to the amount and severity of recent rain, I believe that sediment has blocked the pumps and that [maintenance firm] Amey are unable to pump water out of the underpass fast enough for them to get in and repair the existing pumps.
“For residents of the East End ward and those either wishing to access the park or Morrisons, there needs to be a longer term solution to the issues here.
“There are still crossing points to the north and south that can still be used which would mean a diversion for anyone coming through the centre of the park or from Morrisons side.
“I was made aware of the situation [on Tuesday] and am in contact with roads and transportation.”
Amey maintains the underpass as part of its responsibilities for the A90 – after taking over from Bear Scotland in August.
A spokesperson said: “We are aware of flooding issues at the underpass and are investigating the cause to identify a resolution.”
