A Dundee family fear thieves will return to their home after car keys and a French passport were stolen.
Ahmad Drammeh contacted police after keys for a Ford Fiesta and Nissan Juke were taken during a break-in on Ballindean Road.
The 21-year-old said a laptop, handbag and school bag were also stolen after thieves forced entry into the Douglas property in the early hours of Monday morning.
The barber is so worried the thieves will return he has removed the battery from the Fiesta.
‘You never think it will be you’
Ahmad’s older sister, Fatoumata, could also be forced to cancel travel plans to Paris next week as her passport was stolen.
Ahmad said: “At around 1.30am I heard rustling down the stairs, like someone was going through something.
“I ran down into the living room with my torch on and heard footsteps and went into the kitchen.
“The back door was forced open and it sounded like someone had just dashed away.
“Some of the stuff that was taken is random.
“My younger sister’s school bag, which contained a Quran and other school books, was stolen, along with her laptop.
“Fatoumata is scheduled to fly to Paris on Tuesday and now needs to go to the embassy in London to get it sorted.
“She may need to cancel her flight.”
He added: “We’ve lived in the area for 15 years. We’re aware of other attempted break-ins locally (but) you never think it will be you.
“The police came and interviewed us at around 6pm but I’m anticipating a few sleepless nights given what happened.
“I put a wheel clamp on my mum’s car to make sure that car can’t be taken either. I do fear they will come back.
“I posted the incident on social media, there were reports of three people trying cars on nearby CCTV that morning.”
Police Scotland confirmed the break-in is being investigated.
A spokeswoman said: “Inquiries are ongoing following a report of a break-in at a house in Ballindean Road, Dundee on Monday.”
