Tobacco and cigarettes have been stolen in an early morning ram-raid at a Broughty Ferry shop.
Thieves used a car to smash through windows of the Claypotts Road Premier store, shortly before 5am on Wednesday.
They were captured on CCTV using a 4×4 to smash the front window, before making off with the stolen items on foot.
No staff were in the shop at the time of the raid.
A large section of windows at the Premier convenience store was left smashed, with bricks and glass strewn across the pavement.
Staff had been unable to get into the shop to see the extent of the damage when they arrived in the morning as police had put a cordon round the area.
It was like a Hollywood scene.
Adnan Haider
Store manager Adnan Haider recounted what he saw on CCTV.
He said: “There were two guys in the car, they reversed into the shop twice so half of the car was in the shop and stole a load of stuff from inside.
“One of the guys stayed in the car while the other one stole things.
“After about 10 minutes they tried to start the car and drive off but it wouldn’t go all the way, so they left it and ran away with the stolen stuff.”
Mr Haider added: “This all happened around 4.30am.
“We open at 7am so there was nobody in, but we got everything on CCTV.
“It’s like a Hollywood scene. They caused a lot of damage.”
Locals reported the street “stinking of booze” due to alcohol bottles being smashed during the raid.
Police Scotland confirmed an investigation is now under way into the ram-raid.
A spokesperson said: “Around 4.50am on Wednesday we were called to a report of a car crashing into a premises on Claypotts Road, Broughty Ferry.
“Inquiries into thefts in connection with the crash are ongoing.”
