Dundee’s maiden mental health festival could become an annual event, according to the event’s organiser.
Heart Tay Heart, Dundee’s mental health awareness week, is set to kick off this Friday.
The festival will see a host of exhibitions, seminars and talks take place at sites throughout Dundee.
The brainchild of extreme marathon runner and campaigner Louise Johnstone, Heart Tay Heart is the first initiative of its kind to take place in the City of Discovery.
Authors, artists and local businesses will all contribute to the week-long initiative.
As part of the festival, more than 900 masks designed by local businesses and schools will go on display at Slessor Gardens.
Louise has been delighted with the response to the festival.
And while she is firmly focused on ensuring this year’s event is a success, Louise is already planning next year’s festival — and making it “bigger and better”.
Louise said: “It’s become something much bigger than I could ever have imagined.
“The overall consensus has been really positive. The idea of the week has been really welcomed.
“We can create the environment where it’s okay to have the conversation — where you can say its okay not to be okay.
Heart Tay Heart runs from Friday April 21 to Friday April 28.
