A heroic couple came to the aid of their neighbours and a man had to be rescued by firefighters after a fire at a flat in Dundee on Wednesday.
Two engines from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service service, an ambulance and officers from Police Scotland were in attendance after a fire broke in the first floor of a block of flats on Park Avenue, opposite Baldovan Terrace, at around 3.15pm.
One jet hose reel was used to tackle the blaze, and the gas and electricity supply were isolated after the incident, to prevent further fire.
Firefighters wore breathing apparatus to beat the flames, and residents of the block were evacuated as a precaution.
Park Avenue has been closed to vehicles, and officers advise members of the public to avoid the street if possible.
The male occupant of the flat was treated for burn and smoke inhalation injuries.
Fire fighters and police officers were still in attendance at the scene on Wednesday evening.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue are in attendance at an incident at Park Avenue, Dundee.
“The road is currently closed between Baldovan Terrace and Baxter Park Terrace, Dundee. Police Scotland are advising members of the public to avoid this area.”
