A man has been arrested and taken to hospital after reports of a “siege” at a Dundee multi.
Police were initially called to Bonnethill Court in the Hilltown just after 4am on Monday.
It is understood a woman was injured in the incident.
Armed officers, dog units, firefighters and the ambulance service were later called to the scene.
The area was cordoned off from around 9am and dozens of emergency service workers were seen standing outside the flats.
Some residents were asked to leave their homes or refused entry to the block, and were told they could go to the community centre on Alexander Street.
They were allowed back into the multi at around 3pm as the cordon was lifted.
One man, 53, who has lived in the block for nearly six years, told The Courier: “I had no idea what was going on, but there was dozens of police outside.
“There were officers on the ground floor as well. I was aware armed police were also here.
“It’s been like this since 9am onwards.
“One officer described it as a siege to me when I came out.”
A 41-year-old man who lives in Bonnethill Court says he heard windows being smashed on Monday morning.
He said: “I looked out when I heard the windows smashing.
“The police told me to go back inside when I looked out the window.
“Folk aren’t being allowed in just now.
“There is a massive cordon in place at the moment.”
Another man, 35, who lives in the block, said: “I came out at about 9.30am.
“There were loads of police here, but the area wasn’t closed off at that point.
“The armed police were also in attendance.
“I came back from the doctors at around 11.30am.
“There were police, fire service and paramedics at the scene.
“I was totally speechless. Police said I could go to the community centre on Alexander Street for the time being.”
Inspector Grant McGaughay from Police Scotland said: “Around 4.20am on Monday, police were called to a disturbance at Bonnethill Court, Hilltown Terrace, Dundee.
“Officers attended and a 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident. He has been taken to hospital for assessment.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
