A Dundee young people’s break dancing “crew” are set to perform at a national dance festival at the weekend.
The B-Bairns Crew dance group, set up by hip hop dancers Lee Crosby and Oleg Kiricenko in 2013, use hip hop as a means to develop confidence in children and young people.
The group travel to Edinburgh Festival Theatre on Saturday to compete in one of the country’s largest hip hop dance festivals, Breakin’ Convention.
Lee said: “B-Bairns Crew uses hip hop as a medium to develop confidence and self esteem in children. We also encourage parents to get involved and the classes have proved to be a great opportunity for parents and carers to spend quality time with their children doing something they all love.
“Every parent that comes through the door says they would never be able to dance, but we quickly help them realise that they can, hip hip excludes no one.
“We only bring people who are respected with in the culture to deliver workshops and help in with our development. We keep it raw and stay true to the culture, it’s never about the money and all profits go back into B-Bairns Crew.”
Oleg said: “Breakin’ Convention is the pinnacle of our year, children and parents and carers are really exited and looking forward to the performance.”
The ‘Crew run dance classes on Monday 6.30 – 7.30pm and Saturday 1.30 – 2.30pm at Showcase the Street studios.
