Ex-Labour councillor Tom Ferguson’s decision to stand as an independent did nothing to change the result in Lochee.
Both the SNP and Labour won two seats.
Alan Ross (SNP) was elected after the first round of counting with 1661 first preferences.
Also elected were Roisin Smith for the SNP and Charlie Malone and Michael Marra for Labour.
Mr Ross said: “I’m delighted to be re-elected to serve another term in Lochee.
“It shows people have faith in the SNP.”
His SNP colleague Roisin Smith said: “I’m delighted to have been elected and I promise to work hard for Lochee and Dundee.”
