A team of ghost-hunters have labelled Dundee the “city of paranormal discovery” after spending a night on the hunt in one of the city’s ghoul hot-spots.
The eight-member group, The Haunting Team, are creating a multi-episode YouTube documentary series called Is it Haunted? and chose Mains Castle in Dundee as the location for the first episode.
They drove seven hours up the road from England to try to pull together the evidence and spent all night — a total of 13 hours — in the castle using a range of Ghostbusters-style equipment.
One of the team members, Dundee-born former TV psychic Ally Key, who now lives in Leicester-shire, said the investigation threw up a host of evidence.
One such moment was when the team were frozen with fear upon hearing the voice of a little girl when filming in the cemetery beside a burn.
He said: “We heard a little girl’s voice say my name in a Dundonian accent. It was one of those moments when everybody just stopped in their tracks.
“Shortly after a male voice announced that he wanted us to leave. At that point we felt that it was best to move elsewhere within the castle.
“It was a very successful investigation and it is going to take a long time to edit it everything and get it ready.”
Using equipment such as K2, guass, and mel meters, all of which detect changes in electro-magnetic fields (EMF) — commonly linked to paranormal activity — Ally is “certain” the castle is haunted.
He said: “If there is a reasonable belief that some activity could be man-made then we can debunk it.
“But if there is no other explanation then we can log it as paranormal. We have a lot of evidence to trawl through but I’m certain there is activity in the castle.
“There are so many paranormal hot spots in Dundee. I actually think the city could become the city of ‘paranormal’ discovery there is so much potential here.”
The team will be visiting more hot-spots across the UK and expect the first episode to be edited and available to view online by September.
