A mental health nurse says her car has been written off after a hit-and-run outside her Broughty Ferry home.
Kelly McGregor could only look on from her kitchen window as the other vehicle, believed be a red Ford Fiesta, careered into her car on Nursery Road.
Police are now investigating the incident, which unfolded just before 11pm on Tuesday.
Kelly, 38, says there was a “massive clatter” as the red car hit her 10-year-old BMW 3 Series xDrive M Sport.
The offending vehicle then drove off towards Campfield Square.
Kelly, a former Grove Academy pupil, said: “I had just finished my work at 9pm and got home.
“I was doing some cleaning and then I heard this massive clatter and looked out the kitchen window.
“My car alarm was going off and the lights were flashing, I saw the end of the red car driving away from the scene.
“Within a couple of minutes my neighbour came to my door and they’d also seen the red car driving away – I phoned the police straight away.
“I don’t know how fast they must’ve been going but there is extensive damage to the rear of the car.
Impact on family activities
“The force of the collision knocked my car into the next parked car.”
Kelly – who bought the car in 2018 for about £20,000 – says her insurance company has told her it will be written off due to the level of damage to both the front and rear of the vehicle.
The mum-of-one says the incident has affected her family and work commitments.
She said:Â “The fact the driver hasn’t stopped has had an impact on getting this sorted.
“It will end up with me being out of pocket and I can’t get a courtesy car because I don’t have details for the other party involved.
“There is also the impact this has had on getting from A to B and dropping my daughter off for activities.
“The one thing that has restored my faith in humanity is just how helpful folk have been in coming forward trying to help with information.
“Police came up on Wednesday and were surprised at the extent of the damage to the car.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 10.55pm on Tuesday, police received a report of a hit-and-run crash with a parked car on Nursery Road, Dundee.
“Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
