Car dumped in Dundee park after grass is carved up

Police have been called to a Dundee park after a car which left tyre marks carved into the grass was found dumped.

Officers were called to Fairmuir Park on Thursday morning after a member of the public spotted the damage caused by the vehicle.

The car, a silver Renault Scenic, has been left in the park with its windows smashed and registration plates ripped off.

Pictures from the scene show damage to the grass, likely as a result of the vehicle being driven on it.

The park is used by dog walkers, with football pitches and a children’s play area attached.

One eyewitness said: “I am just back from walking my dog at the park and there is a car in the middle of it with the police in attendance.

“It looks like someone has been joyriding in the park going by the tyre marks.

Vehicle recovered

“I was with another dog walker at 7am when we noticed it.

“Someone who was a bit earlier than us said that he had phoned the police and a couple of minutes later they arrived.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “At around 6.35am this morning we received a report of an abandoned vehicle in Fairmuir Park.

“The vehicle was recovered and police inquiries are continuing.”
