Tributes are being paid to a “beautiful and talented” Dundee drag queen after his death aged 42.
Ian Fiddes, also known as Lindee Wickers, died at Ninewells Hospital earlier this month after a battle with his mental health.
Friends and colleagues have now come together to remember Ian, who is described as a trailblazer in the Dundee drag scene.
Ian became friends with Brooke Reid after she began fundraising for various causes following the death of her own daughter in an accident in Perthshire in 2020.
Brooke said: “After I began organising a fundraising event, Ian contacted me to say he would like to help.
“He got involved on various occasions and was a huge support to me.
“He was a big part of the fairy festival we held last summer to mark Freya’s 10th birthday.
“He came along as Lindee Wickers and was fantastic as always.”
She continued: “Ian was a beautiful friend who offered his time and energy.
“He was a beautiful and talented drag queen and we became inseparable.
“He impacted on not only me but all of my friends, family and people we met through Freya’s Wish.
“His imprint will forever stay with us and he will never be forgotten.”
Fundraiser for memorial
Brooke has launched a fundraising page and hopes to establish a memorial in his name.
She added: “I would like to get a bench and organise a big celebration in his memory to honour him with his Freya’s Wish family, the drag community and everyone who loved and adored Ian on his journey with us.”
Fellow drag artist Miss Peaches says she is devastated at Ian’s death.
She said: “I never got to say bye – I’m gutted.
“I had a lot of love and respect for Lindee.
“The Dundee drag scene wouldn’t be what it is, or may even have ceased to exist had she not been here.
“I’m heartbroken. She was an icon, a trailblazer, a sister, a friend.”
