A Dundee Indian restaurant is facing an uncertain future after a closure lasting several weeks.
Dil’Se on Perth Road has been shut since February after a sign was put on the door saying it will be closed “until further notice”.
Locals say there has been no indication of the restaurant reopening since.
No reason has been given for the weeks-long closure and efforts by The Courier to contact the owners have been unsuccessful.
Customers have also reported making bookings in the restaurant, only to turn up and find it closed.
It comes as plans have been lodged with Dundee City Council for another Asian-inspired restaurant on Perth Road.
If approved, the former Underworld Cafe – near the junction with Seafield Road – would be transformed into Babujee.
The plans describe the eatery as a “tawa Balti house restaurant and takeaway”.
A tawa is an Indian-style frying pan.
If approved by the local authority, Babujee – next door to Italian restaurant Piccolo – will be open between noon and 11pm.
New Turkish restaurant
In recent months, Perth Road has welcomed new Turkish restaurant Marmaris Kebab House.
The venue moved into the premises formerly occupied by Balaka for more than 40 years.
Speaking last month, new owner Ibrar Ibrahim said he was often welcoming the same customers twice in a day.
He said: “Our customers have been very good and they’re happy that the site is open again.
“This is a great location and it creates a better atmosphere on Perth Road when the shop doesn’t sit empty. We’ve really brightened the place up too.
“Sometimes, customers come in twice a day, when we open at 4pm and again at 11pm.
“Some also forget this isn’t Balaka and we’ve had a few people try to order chicken tikka masala.”
