A man has died after a crash involving a bus and car on one of Dundee’s busiest roads.
The crash happened at around 4.30pm on Riverside Drive near to the Tesco supermarket.
A 35-year-old man, the driver of a red Alfa Romeo car, was taken to the Ninewells Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
There were no other reported serious injuries.
Police closed the road for several hours as paramedics and three fire crews worked at the scene.
Motorists were advised to find alternative routes while bus services were also disrupted.
Car may have travelled from Tay Road Bridge
Sergeant Gordon Dickson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.
“Our inquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area and who witnessed the crash to get in touch.
“I would also appeal to anyone who was driving in the area and who may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.
“We are particularly keen to trace any drivers who may have seen the red Alfa Romeo travelling from the Tay Road Bridge before the collision.”
A spokesperson for Scottish Fife and Rescue Service said: “We received the alert at 4.37pm from colleagues at Scottish Ambulance Service for assistance following a collision involving to vehicles on Riverside Drive.
“Three appliances, two from Blackness Road station and another from Kingsway, were dispatched.”
