A man was taken to hospital after being scalded with boiling water during an assault in Dundee.

Police and paramedics were called to Hilltown Terrace at around 3am on Sunday.

Neighbours raised the alarm after hearing the 42-year-old victim “screaming” at the roadside.

The extent of the man’s injuries has not been confirmed.

One resident told The Courier the victim complained he “couldn’t see” as he waited to be taken to hospital.

‘He was screaming in pain’

The 31-year-old man, who asked not to be named, said: “I could hear he was screaming in pain and trying to get cars to stop but folk were driving past him.

“We went out to try and help. He said somebody scalded him with boiling water that had been thrown in his face.

“The victim was saying that he couldn’t see before the emergency services arrived on the scene.

“An ambulance attended and the guy was taking away to Ninewells Hospital.
