PICTURES: Dundee’s sports stars of the future do their city proud at athletics stadium

Young athletes from primary schools across Dundee converged on the Ronnie McIntosh athletics stadium yesterday for a day of sporting competition.
Hundreds of pupils from primary six and seven took part in the annual event, which also drew a healthy crowd of spectators.
A number of track and field events featured during the packed programme, including long jump, javelin, sprints and a series of relay races.
There were a number of impressive performances and several exciting races.
Particularly thrilling was the primary seven boys’ 800m final, which featured a dramatic photo finish.
As well as competing with one another, and their rival city schools, competitors also had to contend with the considerable heat, with the arena bathed in glorious, if somewhat energy-sapping, sunshine throughout.
