More than 2,000 people lost power after a system failure in Dundee. A tripped switch affected homes in the Blackness and West End areas of the city shortly after 7pm. SSE was able to restore power to around half of the affected homes within five minutes, but took around an hour to fix the problem. A spokesman for the firm said: “The main switch tripped in that part of the network at 7.10pm. It affected just over 2,000 customers. “We got 1,055 of them back on within five minutes and the rest by 8pm. “Investigations are ongoing to establish what happened.”
