An Angus gran has told of the moment Lewis Capaldi jumped off stage and over a barrier to give her a hug at his Dundee gig.
Janet Kirk, from Forfar, was treated to tickets for one of the Forget Me singer’s shows at Fat Sam’s on Saturday – the only concert she has been to in her 80 years.
And the pensioner’s day out was complete when she got the chance to cuddle and get a photo with the star.
Janet, who lives at Foresterseat Caravan Park, told The Courier:Â “I’m still on a high.
“It was my birthday in February. My son asked if there was anything I would like and I said would love to meet Lewis Capaldi.
“I thought I was setting the bar high but when I was told a couple of weeks ago that I was going to see him, I was delighted. I must be his oldest fan.”
Janet’s heart-warming moment with the Bathgate singer came thanks to her grandson, Oliver, who was at the gig with her.
She said:Â “The host was looking around for people to ask Lewis a question and pointed to my grandson, who was waving his arm.
“He mentioned that I had just turned 80 and was wondering if it was possible for me to get my photo taken with Lewis.
“He walked off stage and jumped over a barrier to get to me.
‘I told him I would love to adopt him’
“I gave him a big cuddle and told him that I would love to adopt him, which he laughed at.
“He’s just a very down-to-earth young man. There’s no side to him and he is just how you see him on TV.
“I listen to him all the time on the radio. His voice is brilliant.
“I have also watched his Netflix documentary. I saw that he mentioned possibly quitting music due to his Tourette’s.
“It would be such a shame if it came to that.”
While Saturday was Janet’s first concert, she hopes it will not be her last.
She added:Â “I’m no good with crowds and I can’t stand for long but I would love to see him again.
“I had such a great time on Saturday. I’m never going to wash my jacket again.”
The 26-year-old performed in Dundee just a week before his headline appearance at Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Camperdown Park this Sunday.
