A man has been charged with child neglect after being arrested at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Dundee.
A total of four arrests were made at the Camperdown Park music festival at the weekend as 80,000 fans enjoyed performances from the likes of The 1975, Lewis Capaldi and the Jonas Brothers.
Many ticket-holders have praised the event for its atmosphere, but there were some reports of assaults at the venue.
Police Scotland has now confirmed three men, aged 28, 29 and 30 – and a woman aged 23 – were arrested between Friday and Sunday.
Two arrests for assault at Big Weekend
A spokesperson told The Courier: “On Friday, the 29-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with an assault.
“He appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday.
“On Saturday, the 30-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with child neglect and a 23-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with breach of the peace.
“Reports will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
“On Sunday, a 28-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with an assault.
“He is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court at a later date.
“A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
No further details have been revealed about the individual incidents.
It is hoped Dundee may hold more major events in future after Big Weekend was deemed a success.
